Dear Westview Families,

Welcome back to school!! On behalf of all Westview teachers and staff, we hope you've had a fun-filled and relaxing summer. We are excited to welcome our students back to the building and return to daily schedules that help bring consistent, healthy routines to our lives.

As you may have noticed, our building-wide theme this year is, Wild Wild Westview- Saddle up for Success! 🤠Our teachers and staff have been busy this summer bringing our theme to life with creative, fun, and engaging bulletin boards. We are excited for students to see all that has been created and hope it brings joy to our entire Westview community.

We look forward to seeing you all at Meet the Teacher Night on Monday, August 3rd.

• Time: Stop by anytime between 4:00–6:00 p.m.
• Bring your child so they can meet their teacher and see their classroom.
• Bring school supplies to lighten the load on the first day of school.
• Know your child's dismissal plans. Please be prepared to tell your child's teacher how your child will be going home. We encourage families to begin their regular dismissal routine on the first day of school to avoid any confusion in the future.
• Transportation: To guarantee bus transportation for the first day of school, requests were due by Friday, July 31. If your child still requires bus transportation, please notify the school secretary and visit the RCS Transportation table at Meet the Teacher Night. Please note that it may take several days for new transportation requests to be processed.
• Student & Family Guide: Before you leave, be sure to pick up a Westview Student & Family Guide. After reviewing it at home, please sign and return the acknowledgment receipt and the Parent, Student, and Teacher Compacts.

We are looking forward to an incredible school year filled with learning, growth, and success. Thank you for partnering with us as we begin another exciting year at Wild Wild Westview.!

• August 5th First Day of School!!
• August 10th- August 14th Safey Week (All school safety drills will be conducted this week)
• August 18th Girl Scout call-out meeting 5:30-6:30 in Westview cafeteria
• September 9th Homecoming Parade 5:00-7:00 (Requires an approved RCS background check to walk/ride with children- You can stop in the office to request the form)

RCS has increased the requirements for passing background checks this year. A valid email address will be required on the initial office form. You will then receive two emails, one from RCS and one from KidTracks, which will provide further directions. You will need to complete the requirements in order to pass the background check. If you any questions or concerns about this, you can contact the department of Human Resources at Central Office.

In accordance with Indiana law, we will continue to enforce the state's attendance policy. Please be sure you understand the expectations for school attendance. If your child has had five or more UNexcused absences within a ten-week time frame, you will be contacted to schedule a mandatory parent conference. Additionally, if your child has had 9 or more EXCUSED absences, every absence thereafter will require a doctor's note or be counted as unexcused. See additional details for UNexcused absences below. Creating a pattern of unexcused tardies will also negatively impact your child's education. We thank you for your support in making daily, on-time attendance a priority.
